An hours hop north of Manila and we find ourselves on the tarmac at Laoag, we wandered across the runway in the stifling heat to be met by our driver Pedro who whisked us away south again toward our goal of Vigan. However along the way we made a visit to "Malacanang of the North", the former country mansion/estate of Ferdinand Marcos and of course his infamous better half, the queen of shoes, Imelda.
A little faded and ill cared for these days, it was a bit of fun to check out the former first ladies' bidet.
