World #2

World #2.  Collage by Gavin Brown

For those Melburnians in the know, Christine is the only name you need for a shopping experience of total style and indulgence.  For those who have not yet discovered this cave of delights,  wander down the red tartan carpeted steps, into the basement of 181 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.

Along with all of the fabulous accessories and baubles on display, Christine has amassed an extensive collection of Gavin Brown artworks, to adorn her walls.

The print prince of Bali

The good Prince Peter of Woodward is proprietor of a fine shoppe in Seminyak, Bali.  He is the purveyor of many fine nic-naks, from his voyages the world over.  He also peddles an amazing array of exclusively printed garments and gowns. So when next in Paradise you should call by his fine establishment, the prisoners of st.petersberg.

Each anniversary we make a pilgrimage to celebrate the day of birth for Sir Geyer

Didn't we have a lovely day the day we went to Kyneton
This year we visited the fine hamlet of Kyneton by railway.

Last May the Castle visited the wonderful city of Hong Kong for several days of exploring.  It so happened to coincide with the ArtHK10 art fair and we were lucky enough to attend the Vernissage.
This great event is on again at the end of this May Art HK 11. Lots of great international art and gallery's from many countries.  Lots of Damien Hirst pieces, in fact here's some we nic-nak'd up just before.

Who's that girl

Is this a Pam Ann Airlines uniform from the 80's by designer to the stars Plain Jane?

Sunday Sessions

On a Sunday afternoon we like nothing better than taking a short stroll from the Castle.  Out of the drawbridge, across the carpark, down the street and around the corner and we're in New Orleans.   Claypots seafood restaurant is a St.Kilda institution for great food, but it is the little bar that has been added that is our drawcard.  With its Cairo circa 1920 interior, amazing roster of assorted musicians and eclectic cocktail list its a gem.
Sunday sees the amazing Gil Askey and friends squeezed in between the door and the bar playing jazz to melt your heart and warm your soul.  Gil married and moved to Australia many years ago, but prior to that he worked in Motown era with the likes of Diana Ross, the Four Tops, Gladys Knight and on and on.  Seek this venue out, but only tell your closest friends, because its tiny.

Nic-Naks from the Castle 1

Huysmans cornucopia by William Eicholtz 2007
One of our favorite sculptures in the Castle is this amazing piece by our great and talented friend William Eicholtz.  It takes pride of place on our dining table and is backed by the painting "Wildlife" from 2008 by Gavin Brown.
